Chandeliers

Now I finally understand
what they mean

about the light spreading
and brightening the unused

spaces, the tiny crystals
moving

on and over the skin, telling
a story about a broken

nickel. Once I thought
I was brave when I told a man

I knew how to swing
from chandeliers

long before I knew
how to sit under them.
